Armed with free time and a willing spirit, Ana Maria Bezerra wants 2012 to be about getting involved.
There are several causes close to Ana Maria’s heart, namely any that benefit underprivileged children, the elderly and the arts. The organization that most recently caught her eye is the youth program at the Miami Science Museum, which she first heard about from her sister who has been involved for several years. “It focuses on training and mentoring children, improving their communication and self confidence, and enhancing their skills and imagination,” she said, adding that it’s an alternative to the streets and helps the way they think and plan for their future.
Her first time volunteering for the Miami Science Museum, Ana Maria will be serving at their Tenth Anniversary Gala on Saturday, February 18, 2012. Founded in 2003 by Board Chairs Trish and Dan Bell, the black tie optional gala will feature the museum’s mission and the new $275 million waterfront museum project in downtown Miami, adjacent to the American Airlines Arena.
Ana Maria has high hopes for the new venue.
“I think the new facility will inspire dreams, raise aspirations and motivate people of all ages to discover new skills and enjoy the pleasure of learning.”
